Little Rocks and Junior Programs

The Little Rocks:

The Little Rock program has been operating successfully at the Brockville Country Club for many years and continues to grow. The Club offers children from 6 to 12 years of age, a fun way to learn the sport of curling. Dedicated Country Club curlers provide instruction to the Little Rocks on how to slide, sweep and deliver smaller curling rocks. Safely on ice is also a big part of their training.

Teams are put together and actual games are played. The Club holds a Tin Horton's Little Rock Bonspiel each year at the end of January with teams coming from other clubs. Some of the Country Club's more experienced Little Rocks also attend Bonspiels at other clubs. The Brockville Country Club Little Rock Program runs on Sunday afternoons from 12:30 to 2:00 PM.

All Little Rocks are welcome; whether a BCC member or non-member.

The Juniors: 

A recreational curling league for bantam and junior age players has been running at the Brockville Country Club for the past four years. Little Rock curlers that reach the age of 12 can now move into this program and continue playing regularly. Bantam and junior age players new to curling are also welcome to join the league. 

Games are played on Sundays at 2:00 pm. The games are six (6) ends in length with points awarded for wins. A tag system is used to draw teams each week and points

are accumulated personally. The top four highest individuals at the end of the year receive an award and have their names added to the BCC Club trophy.

The Brockville Bantam Barebones Bonspiel is run in March of each year with ten teams coming in from various other clubs in the area to compete against the BCC entries. There is also ample opportunity for players at all levels to form their own teams and enter local bonspiels in one of the many nearby clubs within Eastern Ontario. For the more competitive players, the Ontario Curling Association holds local zone play downs at both the bantam and junior levels that lead to Provincial and National championships.

Curling is a great winter sport for all ages – start them young – join the BCC Little Rock and Junior Programs.
